Photographer's personal brand - camera still-life.

FAQ

Ok, so most of us aren’t walking around looking like we’ve just stepped off a magazine cover (wouldn’t that be exhausting?) The trick isn’t being model material, it’s having someone behind the camera who gets where you’re at.

You know that feeling when you see a photo taken when you were unaware of the camera and think “Oh, hello there!”? That’s what we’re going for, except we’ll make it happen on purpose. We’ll work out the angles that make you feel powerful, your most radiant expressions, and the poses that feel authentically you. And we’ll keep shooting until we have a collection of images that make you want to update every profile pic immediately!

The truth is, most of my personal brand clients start our conversation with “I’m really not comfortable in front of the camera.”

A massive part of what I do is creating that safe space where you can just be yourself. We’ll start gently, have a laugh, and before you know it you’ll forget there’s even a camera there. “Surprisingly fun” is feedback I hear all the time – usually from the same people who were convinced they’d be awkward disasters just a few hours earlier.

Absolutely – I’m spinning lots of plates, just like you are. Whether you need to wrap up in time for the school run, work around nap times, or squeeze everything in between drop-off and pick-up, we’ll make it work.

Life is unpredictable, especially when we’re juggling family and business. If you need to reschedule because someone’s come down with something (or any other kind of unforeseen hiccup), we’ll absolutely sort out a new date, and I keep space in my calendar for this kind of contingency.

Of course, when we’re scheduling a personal brand shoot in London, the weather forecast is more of a rough suggestion than a reliable plan… The good news is we don’t need perfect sunshine. A bit of cloud cover is actually a photographer’s dream, and even light drizzle can work beautifully. When we’re facing biblical downpours on the other hand, we might need to call it off.

If outdoor shots are important for your brand, we’ll lock in a backup date when you book. I’ll keep one eye on the forecast, and we’ll make the call together on the morning of your shoot.

If your family or colleagues feature in your content and social media, then absolutely – they’re part of your brand story and we can include them in your brand session. It’s lovely when the people who matter to you become part of how you show up in your business.

For larger teams needing individual headshots, my headshots service might be more what you’re after (drop me an email). And if you’re looking for gorgeous family photos for wall art, gifts and albums (the kind that have nothing to do with business), check out my family sessions instead.

Don’t worry, most of us live and work in real spaces where life happens, with the clutter and coffee rings that go with all that.. I can absolutely help you style your existing environment to look fantastic on camera – sometimes it’s just about moving a few things around, finding the best light, or choosing the right corner.

If your space genuinely isn’t working for what you need, we can explore other options. I know some gorgeous locations around London, or we might find the perfect café, co-working space, or outdoor spot that aligns with your brand. The goal is finding somewhere that feels true to you, regardless of what’s trending on Pinterest.

The magic really happens in the planning phase, so I’d recommend booking a personal brand session at least a month before you need your photos. This gives us proper time to work through your strategy, create your shot list, and make sure everything’s perfectly aligned with your brand goals.

Summer and autumn are my busiest seasons – everyone wants those gorgeous golden hour shots and cosy autumn vibes – so these months get snapped up quickly. If you’re eyeing up those seasons, don’t wait until the last minute or you might find yourself disappointed!

Not salesy at all – I promise! Think of it more like a chat over coffee (minus the coffee, sadly). I’ll ask loads of questions about your business, what you’re hoping to achieve, and where you’re struggling with your current imagery. Then I’ll explain exactly how I work and what we could create together.

By the end, you’ll have a clear picture of whether we’re a good fit and how personal brand photography could help your business. There’s no pressure whatsoever – you’ll go away with useful insights either way, and I’d much rather work with someone who’s genuinely excited about the process than someone who feels pushed into it.

Totally fine – good decisions shouldn’t be rushed! Some people know straight away, others need time to think it through or get certain ducks in order. I’ll pop you on my mailing list (with your permission, obvs) so you’ll hear about any upcoming availability, seasonal offers, or mini sessions that might work better for your timeline. When you’re ready, just drop me a line and we’ll pick up where we left off.

“Initially, my greatest concern was I might end up liking only a handful of photographs
.”

“This concern vanished completely once I saw Emma’s work. To my delight, I was spoilt for choice with a myriad of photographs that not only met but exceeded my expectations.”

“My initial concern was that the pictures wouldn’t feel right.
Did it come true? No, not at all.”

“The pictures were just the right blend of professional look, great lighting, approachable me. The actual shoot itself was fun – I enjoyed it because it felt like play rather than a dull chore.”

“I wanted the photos to tell the story and for people to see what they would experience in terms of atmosphere – not just what art they would make.

“I chose to work with Emma because she really listened to what I wanted, asked all the right questions, and took time to understand me and my business.  The other quote I had, the person just gave me a figure and was keen to fix a date before anything else was even discussed.”
